The Winchester Players/The Winchester Unitarian Players:

Two Names, One Tradition

(continued)

Today, The Winchester Players are one of the oldest and respected community groups in the area.  We continue to produce two shows a year, spring and fall with an occasional mid-winter show or event.  We are members of EMACT (Eastern Massachusetts Association of Community Theaters) and actively compete in the groups  annual DASH program where shows are recognized for Distinguished Achievement  and Special Honors in theatre.  We are also members of New England Theater Conference, StageSource and ArtsBoston.

We are a welcoming group who encourage people of all ages and all talents to work on stage or backstage, in the front of the house, whatever....just come on in and have the experience of a lifetime with people who are committed to presenting quality theatre to  the community at large.  I would like to think we have done Rev. Storer proud as a group.  He wrote ”The Players as a group become a most caring set of people. We care about each other.  We care about presenting good theater.”  Although there are fewer and fewer Unitarians involved with the Players and there are many in the church  today who believe we just come in and use the space in Metcalf Hall, who continue to encourage everyone to check out and support the Players, support the performing arts. It was Shakespeare after all who wrote “the plays the thing” .
