You can be a part of the Winchester Players in many ways!

There are many exciting ways to be part of the Winchester Players.  Performers, Backstage crew, Production staff, and the Audience, all come together to enjoy the experience of live theater.   Here's a small sampling of how you can become involved with The Winchester Players.  There's a form at the bottom of this page you can use to place your name on our mailing list.

Actors
As an Actor, the Winchester Players offers many opportunities each year for local amateur actors to exhibit and develop their craft with some of the area's most seasoned directors.  We audition actors and offer them roles based solely on their abilities and relevance to the role.  As part of the Winchester Unitarian Society's extended family, the Winchester Players welcomes all actors to audition!

Directors
Each year, The Winchester Players sends out a Call for Directors for the upcoming season.  If you would like to be included on this list, please fill out the form below, and be sure to let us know in the comments section that you would like the opportunity to direct a production.

Backstage
To have a successful show, many people are needed behind the scenes as well.  Here's a list of some of the things we do Backstage:
Stage Management When the play is cast, the Stage Manager assists the Director during rehearsals and runs the show during performances.  S/he and the Stage Crew make sure the show runs smoothly.  Many Stage Crew positions are always open and Stage Manager Trainees are always greeted with unabashed joy.
Set Design  Do you have design, art, or architecture experience?  Can you create floor plans and/or models?   If so, try transforming our stage into a handsome set.
Set Construction and Set Painting   After the design comes construction of the set and its painting.  If you like to build and/or are willing to join us in a painting session, we want you to join our group!
Set Decor  Love homes and interior decorating?  Then you would be a perfect person to "dress our stage" and transform a bare stage into the desired setting for the production.
Props  Would you enjoy finding just the right object called for in the script?  Do you enjoy scavenger hunts?  Are you creative with cardboard and fabric?  We need you!
Lights  A person who understands lighting instruments and electricity could use his/her creativity in designing lighting.  We can also train you in the use of the lighting board for performances, which doesn't need any prior lighting or electrical experience!
Sound  Help us create moods with music and sound effects to enhance the show.  If you like working with sound equipment, or just like to use your love of music to pick out just the right piece, we can certainly use your help.  We use a state-of-the-art system, so you don't need any experience at all if you would like to get involved by running the sound board during a show.
Costumes  If you enjoy working with clothing of various periods, like to sew, or just like to rummage for that perfect outfit, you can help us by expressing your creativity through costumes.
Make-Up  If you are experienced or just want to learn how to create illusions with Make-Up, we have a place for you!
House Management   Ticketing, Ushering, and Refreshments people are always needed for each performance so things go smoothly in the theater.  Come join us for even just one night to help in any of these capacities and see the show for free!

Audience
As a member of the Audience, you support us with your attendance and applause.  Our ticket prices are very reasonable, parking is plenty and free, and it is definitely a great night out without the hassles of going into the city.
