The submission deadline for Director's proposals for the 2008-2009 season has past and we are not looking for any more candidates at this time. Thank you.
Dear Director,
The Board of Directors of the Winchester players invites you to submit plays you would like to direct during our 2008-2009 season. The Winchester Players, in Winchester Massachusetts is a successful, friendly, dynamic community theater group dedicated to presenting entertaining, high-quality theatrical productions. The group has been producing plays for over 75 years and has a well-deserved reputation as a welcoming, supportive environment for directors, actors and crew. We invited you to visit our website, www.winchesterplayers.org, to get to know us better.
The Players present two major productions each season – in the Fall (October-November) and in the Spring (April – May). These shows are full productions of general interest to our audiences and usually run for three consecutive weekends, a total of eight performances. Rehearsals are Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday evenings. We offer a stipend of $400. Historically, we have also staged one short or original play each year at the Players’ Annual Meeting at the end of the season in early June. This year the date is Tuesday, June 10, 2008.
Presently we are inviting directors to submit proposals for either major production slot for our upcoming season. We have also compiled a list of plays we have an interest in producing. To be considered, please submit a current resume of your theater experience along with a description of two or more plays you would like to direct, one of which should be from our proposed list. While selecting plays, please keep in mind that the performance space (Metcalf Hall, Winchester Unitarian Church) is an intimate stage with no fly space. The auditorium seats about 125 people. For each play, please include:
After the Board reviews submissions, you may be asked to interview with us to discuss your ideas. If you are not able to submit for the coming year, but would like to be considered to direct in the future, please let us know. Please email (preferred) your proposal and resume to Co-Presidents Suzanne Panniello, suzannebp@comcast.net and Allison McCann, alli_mccann@hotmail.com, or mail to the address above by March 31, 2008. We anticipate meeting with directors in early May.
At this time we are not able to accept original or un-produced plays for our major productions. We are a small, non-profit community theater whose viability depends greatly on the works of established playwrights.
Thank you for your interest and we look forward to hearing from you!
Sincerely,
Suzanne Panniello, Co-President Allison McCann, Co-President
