The Winchester Players' production of Jeff Baron's funny and touching play "Visiting Mr. Green" opened to enthusiastic crowds this weekend and runs this Friday and Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.

In this touching and absorbing comedy Mr. Green is an 86-year-old cantankerous Jewish widower mourning the death of his wife and he doesn't want the intrusion of regular visits from young executive Ross Gardiner. However a judge has ordered the visits as part of Ross' sentence for almost running the older man down on the streets of New York City. Though the two appear at first glance to have nothing in common, over time their antagonistic relationship gives way to one of mutual acceptance and support.

Production director B.J. Williams says, "At its center the play reveals the need of the two men, and all of us, for acceptance and human connection."
"Visiting Mr.
Green" opened in New York in 1997 starring Eli Wallach and ran
for about a year. The play has since had over 200 productions
around the world.
