In the dark days
after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Thornton Wilder crafted a fable, a farce, a black
comedy and a hopeful piece of drama. Written by the author of Our Town,
this Pulitzer Prize-winning satire deals with the trials and tribulations of the Antrobus
family as we follow this "Everyman" and his kin through the Ice Age, Noah's
flood, and World War III. As funny and entertaining as it is poignant, this play has been
called a testament of faith in humanity.
The N.Y. Herald Tribune termed it "wonderfully wise... a tremendously exciting and profound stage fable."
